Camões, what for?

Heidegger thought of indigence as a problem of a world without gods, and one of his most sensitive concerns was the issue of technique. Alongside Heidegger’s reflections, one can read a sonnet by Camões, “Correm turvas as águas deste rio”, which reflects, with anguish, on the possibility of God having forgotten the world. Investigating especially what appears and what does not appear, the poem investigates the relationship between space and time (including in the historical sense), the confusion of the world and proposes different hypotheses for the enormous disarray experienced by the poet. A celebration of doubt and uncertainty, the sonnet in question, which dialogues with other moments of camonian work, seeks a slippery truth, which is not immediately found in immanence or transcendence.
