Abstract

This paper analyzes how the figure and work of Camões are recovered in the novel Os naufrágios de Camões (2022), by Mário Cláudio, using as an articulating structure Alexander Calder’s mobiles and the principles that support their conception: openness, unfinishedness and appeal to the interaction of the viewer. These values seem to be translated into images and procedures, both in Camões’ poetry and in the fictional apprehension that the novelist makes of it when taking the poet as a character.

Mônica Genelhu Fagundes, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)

Professora Associada de Literatura Portuguesa na Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Doutora em Literatura Comparada pela UFRJ. Sua área de pesquisa são os Estudos Interartes e seus interesses de investigação concentram-se em teorias da imagem e em diálogos entre literatura e artes visuais, com foco na poesia portuguesa moderna e contemporânea. É Regente da Cátedra Jorge de Sena para Estudos Luso-Afro-Brasileiros e membro do Polo de Pesquisas Luso-Brasileiras do Real Gabinete Português de Leitura.
