The poet as a character, or: mobilizing camões

This paper analyzes how the figure and work of Camões are recovered in the novel Os naufrágios de Camões (2022), by Mário Cláudio, using as an articulating structure Alexander Calder’s mobiles and the principles that support their conception: openness, unfinishedness and appeal to the interaction of the viewer. These values seem to be translated into images and procedures, both in Camões’ poetry and in the fictional apprehension that the novelist makes of it when taking the poet as a character.
