This article dedicates it to the study of family relationships in the novel The birds have no sky (2020), by Ricardo Fonseca Mota, considering patriarchy as a category of analysis. In general, the objective is to analyze how the discourse of patriarchy presents itself in the family organization of the characters in the novel. To this end, we sought to identify which aspects have changed in relation to the patriarchal family model and which remain present under a new guise. The study showed that patriarchy values are still present in the families of the characters, materialized by the discourse of inferiority of women and inability to reconcile work and family. Furthermore, it was also shown that the discourse of patriarchy goes beyond the limits of the family environment, reaching all areas of society, imposing on women the responsibility for all kinds of maladjustments, whether in the family environment or in the workplace.
