Abstract

The Luís de Camões Lyrics presents a research’s large field for those who wants to investigate the relationship between poetry and knowledge. But it is mainly in his Songs, a noble genre according to the coordinates of sixteenth-century humanism, that we recognize the formulation of a new knowledge about the world, specially in those wich dramatize his biographical journey, conceding to life’s experience an important role in the construction of a personal poetics, between tradition and modernity.

Author Biography

Paulo Braz, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)

Professor de Literatura Portuguesa na Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Tem se dedicado à pesquisa da poesia portuguesa moderna e contemporânea, especificamente da obra de Herberto Helder. Em 2018, defendeu a tese de doutorado “Das artes da servidão: Camões e o amor do mundo” e, em 2024, organizou, em parceria com Luis Maffei, uma edição d’Os Lusíadas, publicado pela Kotter Editorial.
