Abstract
The main goal of this essay is to describe the history of Royal Library; this large collection of books that was a kind of oficial image of the Portuguese kings.Through books and librarians we will tell common and different history of Brazil and Portugal: the earthquake, the escape of the court and the Brazilian independence.
