Drawing on some previously presented research and analyses in the field of comparative literature on the relationships – textual and otherwise – between Camões and Cervantes, this essay aims, on the one hand, to bring new elements, highlighting the “similarities” observed by Spanish biographers of Cervantes and, on the other, to highlight the presence of Camões in Cervantes’s last work, published the year after his death (1617), Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda. Historia setentrional, whose membership in the epic genre and the corpus of maritime narratives invites us to a comparative reading of Os Lusíadas.
