Abstract

Camilo Castelo Branco uses the romantic fiction model (a succession of sentimental adventures that culminate in a happy end through marriage) in a non-conventional manner. The author displays the ideological contradictions of this model through the ambiguities generated by the metalanguage that flows through the plot of Amor de Salvação.

Eduino José de Macedo Orione, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)

É mestre e doutor em Literatura Portuguesa pela Universidade de São Paulo. No mestrado, estudou o romance português contem- porâneo (Teolinda Gersão), e, no Doutorado, o romance oitocentista (Camilo Castelo Branco). Desde 2011 é professor de Literatura Portuguesa na Universidade Federal de São Paulo.
