Camilo Castelo Branco uses the romantic fiction model (a succession of sentimental adventures that culminate in a happy end through marriage) in a non-conventional manner. The author displays the ideological contradictions of this model through the ambiguities generated by the metalanguage that flows through the plot of Amor de Salvação.
