The purpose of this article is to survey and analyze the poems that made up the verse correspondence conducted, in 1849, between the writers Maria da Felicidade do Couto Browne and Camilo Castelo Branco in the pages of O Nacional. Some of the pieces of this dialogue are present in the works published by both, surprisingly, others were still forgotten in the pages of the important Porto periodical. In the proximity of the commemorations of Camilo’s bicentenary, recovering and analyzing this exchange seems to be of total relevance not only due to its documentary and historical value, but above all because of its importance for understanding the cultural and artistic atmosphere that certainly influenced the production of one of the biggest names in Portuguese Literature. This is also a possibility of resuming and giving visibility to Maria Browne’s work, which is essential for this process.
